Program Overview

It’s no secret that machine learning is one of the fastest growing fields in tech, and the Google Cloud Platform has been instrumental in furthering its development. With a host of APIs, GCP has a tool for just about any machine learning job. In this introductory level, you will get hands-on practice with machine learning as it applies to language processing and Image processing.

Prerequisites

To be able to take this course you will need to know at least one programming language

Curriculum

1- Intro to ML: Image Processing

Using large scale computing power to recognize patterns and “read” images is one of the foundational technologies in AI, from self-driving cars to facial recognition. The Google Cloud Platform provides world class speed and accuracy via systems that can utilized by simply calling APIs. With these and a host of other APIs, GCP has a tool for just about any machine learning job. In this introductory quest, you will get hands-on practice with machine learning as it applies to image processing by taking labs that will enable you to label images, detect faces and landmarks, as well as extract, analyze, and translate text from within images.

Quest Outlines

In this lab you train and deploy a TensorFlow model to AI Platform for serving (prediction).

In this lab you’ll upload an image to Cloud Storage then make a request to the Vision API with APIs Explorer.

AutoML Vision helps developers with limited ML expertise train high quality image recognition models. In this hands-on lab, you will learn how to train a custom model to recognize different types of clouds (cumulus, cumulonimbus, etc.).

The Cloud Vision API lets you understand the content of an image by encapsulating powerful machine learning models in a simple REST API. In this lab you’ll send an image to the Cloud Vision API and have it identify objects, faces, and landmarks.

In this lab you’ll combine the Cloud Vision, Natural Language, and Translation APIs to capture text strings from images, recognize characters, and analyze and translate the text strings into other languages.

2- Intro to ML: Language Processing

Quest Outlines

In this lab you train and deploy a TensorFlow model to AI Platform for serving (prediction).

The Google Cloud Speech API integrates speech recognition into dev apps; you can now send audio/receive a text transcription.

The Cloud Natural Language API lets you extract entities and perform sentiment and syntactic analysis on text.

The Cloud Natural Language API lets you extract entities, and perform sentiment and syntactic analysis on a block of text. In this hands-on lab you’ll learn how to extract entities and sentiment from text using the Cloud Natural Language API.

The Cloud Speech API lets you do speech to text transcription from audio files in over 80 languages. In this hands-on lab you’ll record your own audio file and send it to the Speech API for transcription.

3- Exploring APIs

Google Cloud Application Programming Interfaces are the mechanism to interact with Google Cloud Services programmatically. This quest will give you hands-on practice with a variety of GCP APIs, which you will learn through working with Google’s APIs Explorer, a tool that allows you to browse APIs and run their methods interactively. By learning how to transfer data between Cloud Storage buckets, deploy Compute Engine instances, configure Dataproc clusters and much more, Exploring APIs will show you how powerful APIs are and why they are used almost exclusively by proficient GCP users. Quest Outlines

This lab will teach you about the architecture and basic functioning of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). This will be supplemented with hands-on practice, where you will configure and run Cloud Storage API methods in Cloud Shell.

In this lab you’ll upload an image to Cloud Storage then make a request to the Vision API with APIs Explorer.

In this lab you will use the APIs Explorer tool to create Cloud Storage buckets, upload data to the bucket, and remove content from buckets.

In this lab you’ll learn how to use an inline Google APIs Explorer template to call the Cloud Dataproc API to create a cluster, run a simple Spark job in the cluster, and update the cluster.

Use the APIs Explorer to create a Compute Engine instance, then use Cloud monitoring to monitor the CPU usage.

In this lab, you will get hands-on practice configuring and deploying an App Engine instance with the APIs Explorer tool.

The Cloud Natural Language API lets you extract entities and perform sentiment and syntactic analysis on text.
